Even If You Hire Movers, You Are Required to Move Somethings Yourself

The sheer amount of items in a typical household can make moving day a daunting task for many. Due to the hassle involved, many people opt to hire a moving company to handle the relocation of items. Friends, family and acquaintances are good places to start when trying to find a moving provider. You can also use the Internet to search for providers of professional moving services (i.e.’long distance movers‘). Although moving providers will transport most household items, there are things that cannot be moved. The following items with either need to be disposed of, or you will have to transport the following yourself: Perishable Items: Movers do not want to transport produce, frozen or refrigerated foods – due to the risk of spoilage during transport. Live Animals: A moving truck is no place for a living creature. Take your pets with you or find a pet transportation specialist. Plants: Unstable climate conditions in the back of a truck are also too harsh for many plants as well. Hazardous Materials: Due to risk of fire and explosion, moving companies find it too risky to move household chemicals (i.e. paint thinner, ammonia, bleach, lighter fluid). Pressurized containers (i.e. propane tanks, aerosol cans), fireworks, batteries and charcoal are also no-nos. You can contact hazardous materials (hazmat) transportation experts if you have such items that you need moved, and do not want to dispose of. Firearms: For a variety of legal and insurance reasons, you will need to move your guns and ammunition yourself.
